Details Behind Rob's Impromptu Musical Performance In London

Pattinson_Music LJ had the chance to interview the people behind Sofar Sounds recently. They mentioned how it was actually Rob's idea to be part of the gig that night:

Lastly, if you don’t mind, I’d like to inquire a bit about Robert Pattinson’s performance on behalf of our community. Did he volunteer to play? Can you describe his performance style, his musical style for us?

He sure did. He was in the audience and clearly enjoying the music. Halfway through the gig he asked if we would mind if he played. As there were 5 other acts pre booked to play we said ‘sure!’ but that it would have to be at the end of the night. He was nervous –Rob said it had been about a year since he had played live and hoped he remembered what to do. He was very down to earth and shy about it. It was getting late once he grabbed the guitar and walked to the ‘stage’ (the front of a private home in north london) – so we agreed he’d play one song. He has a very rich and soulful style – sweet-sad lyrics – a sound not unlike his friends Marcus Foster and Bobby Long.

We’ve been so patient waiting for him to perform and your clip gave us so much hope! Do you plan on releasing the full song he performed? And can you see him returning for another performance?

We will definitely release the full clip of his performance in the coming months. Just arranging when a good time to do so (watch this space: www.sofarsounds.com). And as he truly enjoyed playing Songs From A Room (and played well), I’m pretty certain he’ll be back.

Learn more about how Sofar Sounds was created and how they choose where the next gig will be, over at Pattinson_Music LJ.

  3. At first I was uncertain about Rob's singing, but it was just the style I was uncertain about and sometimes I really don't understand what he says and it reminds me so much of Bob Dylan's style of singing as so far as I rarely understand Bob Dylan. However, Rob has such a soulful vibe and I would be interested to know if he sings in different styles of music like how he changes his voice in different roles he performs. I really think he would make a fantastic Jesus Christ in the remake of Jesus Christ Superstar.

  4. Rob has an uniquely amazing voice...His shyness, and insecurities sometimes over shadow it making him sound not so tuned...All he needs to do is embrace his beautiful soulful sound, and let it go...God I love his voice...
I have a new RobFanFic blog if you would like to check it out and let me know what you think.

  5. I am not so sure if I like Rob's style of singing; it is quite unique. I do like his interpretation of "Never Think" which I have on my playlist. It was such a soulful rendition and he sang it like he really felt the words. I do agree with Iluvthemovies about the way he delivers the words which is hard to understand sometimes. I know this is a singing style which he and the Brit pack seem to favor.
Rob as Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ Superstar, now that is a show I would definitely love to watch...
