Rob & Dermot Mulroney Jamming Together?.. Bliss

Adam being awesome to fans at the Rock of Ages premiere in L.A.

We LOVE Adam Shankman, not only for bringing some swing to the Oscars.. but also because he made us like his Rock of Ages film better than the play it's based on (not an easy thing to accomplish). And now this.

The tweet that made us smile in the middle of the night. We knew Adam had heard Rob's voice, when he mentioned how good it was at the Breaking Dawn premiere last November. But Rob jamming with Dermot Mulroney?.. what a lucky group of people that witnessed that collaboration. Here's a bit of Dermot playing the Cello earlier this year. We can only hope to some day be able to experience Rob's music live.

Stars Talk Rob's Music

Sure.. just stand there and tease us

While we can't wait until Rob takes the recording leap and graces us all with his voice in an album, not everybody thinks it's a good idea. Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) actually thinks it's a really bad idea:

“No, he is not putting out an album! God, I don’t understand actors who put out albums. I don’t think anyone should take being a famous actor as a cue that it’s time put out an album. I mean, can you imagine how many album he’ll sell? So many. So why not, I guess. That would be cool if he came out with an album of really weird growly rock. I would love that, but I fear it’ll be navel-gazing acoustic balladry that’ll make me want to kill myself.”

Speak for yourself Adam, navel-gazing is what we live for!

While Scott might have been critical of Rob's music, fellow UK musician Charlie Simpson would love to work with Rob:

"I heard one of his songs, I think it was on the Twilight soundtrack, someone said I should check out his stuff. [A duet] would be awesome, I'd be well up for that".

Wonder how they would sound together? - take a listen to Simpson, and imagine away..

What Does Taylor Think About Rob The Musician?

Taylor was on BBC Radio promoting Abduction, but soon enough the questions turned to Breaking Dawn and Rob.

Marcus Foster also makes a quick Rob mention in a new interview, where he talks about asking Kristen to be in his latest video:

“Yes I was. We’re good friends, and have been for a long time,” he says. “It’s mad what’s happened to him. I’ve met Kristen Stewart through him, who stars in my latest video (I Was Broken). I asked, and she said she’d do it.”

Marcus Foster Talks Rob's Version Of 'I Was Broken'

While doing an interview at Green Man 2011, Marcus shared some details on how Rob ended up playing I was Broken, and the Jeff Buckley role that in the end didn't go to Rob.

Rob Goes Back To His Favorite Guitar Store

Usually when Rob is in LA, he makes time to stop by Norman's Rare Guitars in Tarzana. That was apparently the case again yesterday, according to the store that thanked him publicly for stopping by. So far they haven't posted any pictures of Rob's visit like they have in the past. Then again, this time he may not have bought anything. Either way we'll let you know if a picture is released :)

New Details On Rob's Performance Of Renesmee's Lullaby

Instead of Bella it will be Renesmee sitting next to Rob

We already knew that Rob would be performing Renesmee's lullaby in Breaking Dawn, after composer Carter Burwell shared the news. But now Bill Condon's partner Jack, gives us more details!

Rob actually picked it up really quickly.

Of course he did! (Rob talked about it with MTV).. we cannot wait to see the sweet scene on camera. :)

Rob A Big Fan Of Adele!

For the second time this year, Rob made time to attend an Adele concert.. this time in LA!

Several people saw him at the Greek theatre last night, including a few lucky media folks who tweeted about their encounter.

The concert was a sellout, and everyone there talked about how amazing Adele sounded after taking a break thanks to a bout of laryngitis. We're happy Rob got to be in that crowd :)

'Breaking Dawn' Soundtrack Release Date Announced!

UPDATE 8/16 - Summit promises to release the tracklist in the next few weeks! - read the complete post.

Not even gonna lie. When Summit announced that they would be releasing the official Breaking Dawn Part 1 soundtrack on November 8th, the first thought that came to mind was Muse. We figure they'll be working on a new song for the film when they return to the studio next month. And then it struck us.. what IF Rob is indeed part of the soundtrack. It's a thought we can't even start entertaining because of fears we'll be so disappointed if he's not involved. Worse, we already know he can pull it off, thanks to Never Think and Let Me Sign. And then there's director Bill Condon, teasing us about a cast member being part of the soundtrack..

UPDATE 8/15 - Sounds like it could very well be 100 Monkeys after reading this response in a new interview with the band:

PG: Any possibility about appearing on the “Breaking Dawn Part 1 or 2″ soundtrack?
JR: Honestly, we are not allowed to talk about it.

Damn you Bill for putting that thought back in our heads! - so we're left hoping Muse strikes up another winner track, as we not so secretly wish it's actually Rob who takes center stage.

Rob The Fashionista & Music Teacher

Kellan Lutz mentioned a few nice stories involving Rob recently:

E! Online

"Rob and I were talking about doing a clothing line together!"

"He didn't know I was doing mine," Kellan explained before reenacting this convo (complete with a fake R.Pattz's accent, of course): "He's like ‘I should do one' and I'm like ‘Oh'. And he found out I was doing one and he's like ‘Really?' It was really funny. He wants to do one too."

"What'd we call it, we called it ‘Rags by Rob' or something, because he's always so like, I don't know...hipster."

And he tells the LA Times, Rob even taught him how to play guitar:

"I got a couple of books and some iPad apps, but I get to work with Rob and Jackson [Rathbone] on all these movies, who are brilliant musicians," he said. "I get to learn from talented people."

Dear Kellan: Thanks for reminding us why we think Rob is amazing!

It wasn't just for show!.. swoon ;)

From Vanity Fair:

“When we first started, none of us knew that Robert really does play piano,” says Ben Jaffe, the tuba player (center, above), the band’s director, and the son of the venue’s founders. “But when he got up there, he started ticking out these notes, and it was obvious he wasn’t just tinkling—he really knew how to play.”

LA Sighting: Rob Shopping For A New Guitar Thanksgiving Weekend

Just like most of us, Rob used his time off to go shopping this holiday weekend. And of course he headed straight to Norman's Rare Guitars in LA. The store posted a picture on its Facebook page and added a few more details of Rob's purchase on twitter.

Rob is a regular customer at the store, and it's nice to see he had some time to unwind before heading back to Baton Rouge to resume filming Breaking Dawn.

Details Behind Rob's Impromptu Musical Performance In London

Pattinson_Music LJ had the chance to interview the people behind Sofar Sounds recently. They mentioned how it was actually Rob's idea to be part of the gig that night:

Lastly, if you don’t mind, I’d like to inquire a bit about Robert Pattinson’s performance on behalf of our community. Did he volunteer to play? Can you describe his performance style, his musical style for us?

He sure did. He was in the audience and clearly enjoying the music. Halfway through the gig he asked if we would mind if he played. As there were 5 other acts pre booked to play we said ‘sure!’ but that it would have to be at the end of the night. He was nervous –Rob said it had been about a year since he had played live and hoped he remembered what to do. He was very down to earth and shy about it. It was getting late once he grabbed the guitar and walked to the ‘stage’ (the front of a private home in north london) – so we agreed he’d play one song. He has a very rich and soulful style – sweet-sad lyrics – a sound not unlike his friends Marcus Foster and Bobby Long.

We’ve been so patient waiting for him to perform and your clip gave us so much hope! Do you plan on releasing the full song he performed? And can you see him returning for another performance?

We will definitely release the full clip of his performance in the coming months. Just arranging when a good time to do so (watch this space: www.sofarsounds.com). And as he truly enjoyed playing Songs From A Room (and played well), I’m pretty certain he’ll be back.

Learn more about how Sofar Sounds was created and how they choose where the next gig will be, over at Pattinson_Music LJ.
