Water For Elephants TN & GA: Day 1 - Director Tweets, Rob's Ice Cream Treat

UPDATE: New set pictures added! (Including a first look at Jacob's parents?!)

Dozens of  fans turned out Friday, to try and catch a glimpse of Rob at a Georgia home where part of Water for Elephants is being filmed this weekend. And the media followed.. all three area TV stations have been reporting on the production's every move.

The first one there was WRCB reporter @kayblevins3, who started tweeting filming details from the location set, even before cameras began rolling:
We think we have a Robert Pattinson sighting....dozens of people gathered outside the set for Water for Elephants in Chickamauga.

Security is tight in North Georgia today.

So many people are here to see Robert Pattinson
A little later in the morning, they gave us a preview of the scenes being shot:

Film crews just shot a scene on the property outside the family home in Chickamauga

in the scene children are playing with dolls and running around the yard.

The news director tweeted a few more details of what reportedly was filmed at that location:
Our crew on the #WFE set says film crews shot a sunrise scene where they will superimpose Reese Witherspoon on horseback later.

The station also kept fans updated online and covered it for the evening news.

WDEF also covered the Water for Elephants filming for its viewers. And there were plenty of Team Edward fans waiting for Rob. Check out their TV news report.

The county where some of the scenes are being filmed, of course is not complaining:

"You don't get any tax incentives for this, but it puts about $100,000 each day that they film into our economy," the commissioner says.

Heiskell also says it's not just about money, because when big names like Robert Pattinson come to town more than anything it means exposure.

We're told Rob waved at fans a few times. One of them shared with us what she saw:
It was probably the greatest thing that ever happened to the community. People from all walks of life came to watch this including people who were not his fans. While I watched Rob from afar it was exciting and a privilege to be at the set.
The Timesfreepress.com put together a great video report as well.

As things wrapped up at that first GA location we got one last update.. from the ice cream man:
"He's real nice, a normal person to me," Tony Gross says.

So the ice cream man made it to the set. And while we can't show you a shot of the star with his fans on Friday night. We can tell you what ice cream he picked.

"Vanilla big dipper," Gross says.

A Vanilla Big Dipper is similar to a sundae cone, some call it a nutty buddy.
Yes.. we know you want to see it..

The sweet day ended with director Francis Lawrence (@Hibbits), sharing his thoughts with fans:

Day one in TN finished. Jankowski house is done! Looked beautiful.

Oh! one last thing, in honor of Water for Elephants being released April 15, 2011.. we got together with @candykizzes24 to bring you our very own countdown widget. @H2OforElephants gave us the idea. So use it if you like it.. we're just happy to have a countdown to look forward to!

Phew.. was day 1 a trip or what?.. more to come!

  1. Does anyone have any idea when they will be filming at The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum? That's only an hour and a half from where I live! I know it's a long shot, but I'd love the chance to see Rob in person.
