Cosmopolis: An Eye-Opening Preview

It's not often when it comes to news about Rob's projects, that we find an article that separates itself from the pack by putting its own voice in it. The Cosmopolis piece written by Indiemoviesonline's Paul Martin may not be pretty, but it's definitely honest. And for those of you who don't know what Rob is getting himself into by working with director David Cronenberg, you are about to get a crash course. We warn you there is some spoilers and strong language. Read the article now, and the even better second part. Please let us know what your thoughts are. If you are not too disturbed like we were by some of the content matter..

We also got some production details, via Larry411:

KINOLOGY

It is an April day in the year 2000 and an era is about to end. The booming times of market optimism — when the culture boiled with money and corporations seemed more vital and influential than governments — are poised to crash. Eric Packer (Pattinson), a billionaire asset manager at age twenty-eight, emerges from his penthouse triplex and settles into his lavishly customized white stretch limousine. Today he is a man with two missions: to pursue a cataclysmic bet against the yen and to get a haircut across town. Stalled in traffic by a presidential motorcade, a music idol’s funeral, and a violent political demonstration, Eric receives a string of visitors — experts on security, technology, currency, finance, and a few sexual partners — as the limo sputters toward an increasingly uncertain future. Based on the novel by Don DeLillo. (Giamatti plays the dual role of Benno Levin/Richard Steers. / Production office opens Mid-March.)

Filming is set to begin at the end of May.

  2. I look forward to Robert working with David Cronenberg. I think David will be able to pull a real performance from Robert. What I mean by that is he will to be on his A game to prove the critics and general audience (not speaking about women and tweens who adore Robert) that David did right by selecting Rob for this role. There is so much flack about David choosing Robert for Eric Packer but I have faith that Robert will really want to prove himself in this role. to quote a great film of the pairing of Pattinson and Cronenberg "This may be the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

  3. funny (in a good way) how it reminded me of Fifty...
billionaire... uptight... the outlandish car... the security (Taylor has neck I'm sure, as opposed to Torval)... and the women... women... women... (u know what i can't say)...

the preview was straight to the point and honest enough. rob is moving and improving from his teen-cast era (hey, i'm a teen but want him showing people what he can do and not taking him for granted because of prejudice and 'hate')

light and love to rob and david.
