'Queen Of The Desert' Filming Update

The real T.E. Lawrence

There hasn't been much news on Queen of the Desert since Rob was announced as taking part in the film. Lucky for us, producer Cassian Elwes is on twitter. While responding to a fan last night, he said production is expected to begin "early next year." While Rob said he'd be filming The Rover first, we're guessing somehow they will make it work. Elwes went on to mention, that Rob is playing the role of Lawrence of Arabia, which Peter O'Toole played before him. Here's a clip of the 1962 film based on the life of real explorer T.E. Lawrence. Continue reading the cliff notes aka wikipedia for a quick version of it.

Queen of the Desert of course will have its own story to tell, but this is what we know so far (via The Playlist):

The film will tell the true story of Gertrude Bell (Naomi Watts), the traveler, writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer, and political attaché for the British Empire at the dawn of the twentieth century. So who will Pattinson play? Only one of the most important figures in recent history, T.E. Lawrence aka Lawrence Of Arabia, who worked with Bell to establish the Hashemite dynasties in Jordan and Iraq.

We'll be following the latest as production gets going, keeping you updated on everything about the film. So excited to see Rob in this role!
