But David just said, you know, he doesn't know what it was about either but there's just something interesting there.

Rob: What I liked about it in the first place was the cadence of the lyricism of the writing. I think that's what I enjoyed playing about it 'cause you couldn't really approach it like a normal part, it was like, you're approaching it like it was a song or something.
Rob: It was one of the strangest things when we were shooting, we had one scene by the train station, the first shot of the movie, and we've been inside the limo during the whole shoot and suddenly I have to get out and there was like ... Twilight fans and stuff and I was .. I've never been more nervous in my entire life. That was ... it was terrifying.

Rob: Good evening, thanks for having me.
Firstly, one question. You'll understand, in every interview, David Cronenberg calls you Bob Pattinson. Should we call you Robert or Bob?
Rob: I haven't heard him say that. Yeah, maybe I should start going by Bob this year. I'm Bob in Cannes.
If you had to describe the movie with one term: shocking, violent or really so close to reality?
Rob: yeah, I wouldn't say it's close to reality. I think if there's one word, it would probably be 'strange'. It's a pretty odd movie.
One word about this car. what does she represent, this bunker where the hero pretty much isolates himself from the world that surrounds him?
Rob: Completely, it's his office, he's created a world for himself. He's kind of insulating himself from every aspect of life and anyone that comes into his world, has to behave like him, they have to speak his language. And it's strange, it's so small in there, it's very ..... to the whole movie. It's pretty much in the limo, the whole movie, it gives you this feeling of claustrophobia.
Eric Packer, this young golden boy that you portray, is in search of emotions. He always needs more, after the money, after the sex, he's sated of everything and death becomes a challenge. Is that it or not at all?
Rob: Yeah, I think he has quite a strange idea about dying tho. I don't think he feels, ..., I don't think it's a conventional idea of death. Death is just .. He's such an egomaniac that death is purely a choice for him, there's no such thing as fate. So, it's not like he's trying to kill himself, it's just what he wants to do.
Does it feel good to break away from the image? Is that what cinema is about, to change your mask?
Rob: Yeah! I mean, it's strange for me 'cause I don't really know who I am in reality and so getting to do movies is when you can explore certain ideas, when you have a feeling that you probably had your whole life and trying to figure out something about yourself. I's an arrogant reason for acting. But, yeah, it's definitely changing masks. It's especially after having done .. I'm known for a series, which a lot of people known me for the Twilight movies and this is radically different which is interesting.
Robert Pattinson did you take up French?
Rob: I'm terrible. I learned French in school and I always think I could speak French but I don't think anyone actually understands what I'm saying.

In addition to Summit’s booth presence at Comic-Con®, the studio will also host one of the first panels of the day in Hall H on Thursday, July 21st dedicated to THE TWILIGHT SAGA franchise. Rob On Romantic Roles, Love, Traveling Lifestyle
In an interview with Donna Moderna magazine (Italy), Rob shares his thoughts on moving on from Edward, his take on love, and much more.

-Where's your house?
"I don't have one. Or rather, I have my parents' house in London, but my room has become a sort of warehouse where I leave the stuff I can't take with me. I can't take too many things, 2-3 bags at most. That's why I always wear the same clothes."

"They are the harder movies of the series, and I wonder how they're going to distribute them with a PG 13 rating. There are a lot of sex scenes and so many other things that are not suitable for children" (his look gets mischievous and cheerful)
- How similar are you to Edward?
"We both think sex without love doesn't make sense"
-What if they asked you to keep playing this role?
"That's a closed chapter. I've just finished filming Bel Ami where I play a cynical, seducer, social-climber. Then I will be the main character in David Cronemberg's Cosmopolis. I'll play the role of an American millionaire who, within 24 hours in Manhattan, lives his descent into hell. I still can't believe I'll be working with a director like Cronemberg. And I even wanted to quit acting after Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire! Nobody wanted me, while my band was starting to sign its first contracts and earn some money. Then I got offered the role of Salvador Dalì in Little Ashes. After that movie I realized I really liked acting and put music aside."
- So you won't play a romantic role ever again?
"Never say never. But I need to change a bit, or either the audience and I would get bored eventually."
Panic: we're already orphan because of Leonardo Di Caprio, will we be orphan because him as well? It would be a bad piece of news since I'm interviewing the romantic hero Pattinson on the romantic wedding day between William and Kate. I don't even have the time to finish the sentence that he asks

Bibischatzi found this great article on TZ (German newspaper April 26th). She did her best to translate the interview with Rob for us. He talks about his support for the WWF, the day he adopted Bear, and why he could never be a veterinarian. Some quotes seem familiar, but others are new. Great interview.
I am not a romantic person
In his private life he seems to go easy on love. When asked about his relationship with Kristen Stewart, Rob said to tz-Hollywood correspondent Dierk Sindermann:

Rob Talks 'WFE' Paycheck In Interview Out Of Spain
Rob talked to Que.es while promoting Water for Elephants in Barcelona. He mentioned taking a paycut to work on the film, and admitted he once considered taking a break from acting:
Is it true you reduced your pay rate to be with Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz in the cast of Water for Elephants?
Yes, it is. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with admitting it. Usually the best paychecks come with the worst jobs (laughs)…
During promotion for New Moon you suggested taking a year of sabbatical, is that idea still rolling around in your head?
The truth is I thought about it very seriously. I thought that I’d do it once I finished filming all the Twilight Saga films, but…right now is not the right time, offers are storming in and it’s not the time to stop

(Then he talks to Francis Lawrence. Francis says working on Lady Gaga videos has helped him with directing films - Is it harder to work with animals or Lady Gaga? - Francis: "Lady Gaga" "Animals do what you tell them") again, lol..
(With Reese he talks about working with animals, was she afraid?: - she answers "Poquito miedo" (a little) - She says she'd only been to Madrid, She has a lot of animals at home, and then reporter gives her the equivalent of a Spanish Oscar. A can of "the best olives in Spain".)
(Then there's another Francis clip, where *here's a fact we didn't know* Francis says his wife is from Pamplona "there's great bulls there" making a comment after reporter tells him his name is "Torito" or small bull. Francis goes on to say he'd love to do a film in Spain, then thanks the show in Spanish).
