“I Love Rob So Much, But He Is Now A Man!”

Madeleine Stowe has confirmed what she had hinted at during previous interviews, Rob is now too old to play the role of Phineas in Unbound Captives:

“I love Rob so much, but he is now a man!” said Madeline. “And he was kind of a boy when we first got into this film, so we are on the hunt for a new Phineas right now, that is the piece of casting we are concerned about because Rachel Weiz is a part of the film as well. Thank you so much for asking.”

So no Comanche-talking Rob after all. It will be interesting to see who is cast as his replacement. In the meantime Rob has plenty of roles coming up including his take as Rey in The Rover, which has him trying on a southern accent. As they say in the South (we did our research): "Do go on, you sweet-talking thing".

Variety: 'Unbound Captives' Budget Issues

Variety has an interesting behind-the-scenes tidbit - about the budget for Unbound Captives:


At Cannes 2009, Hyde Park raised nearly $30 million from foreign buyers for Madeleine Stowe's directorial debut, "Unbound Captives," which was supposed to star Robert Pattinson, Hugh Jackson and Rachel Weisz, and was budgeted at close to $40 million.


Stowe had previously turned down $5 million for her script from Fox, because she was so keen to direct it herself. But soon after Cannes, sources say she decided she needed a significantly bigger budget, as much as $10 million higher, to do justice to this sweeping romantic Western about a widow searching for her kidnapped children.

Despite a lengthy effort, Hyde Park couldn't close the gap with a domestic deal, so Morgan Creek eventually took over the project, but was equally unable to make the sums add up. Stowe is still talking up her hopes to shoot in 2013.

Last we heard Rob was still attached to star, but with all these delays it will be interesting to see if he ends up sticking with the project.

Unbound Captives: What Stowe Has In Store

Madeleine Stowe has been talking up Unbound Captives while promoting her new show Revenge. But a bit in the Wall Street Journal today, may mean more questions than answers when it comes to Rob's involvement in the film:


Stowe says Rachel Weisz and Robert Pattinson were attached to the project. Weisz confirmed her involvement; Pattinson could not be reached for comment.


Now, maybe we're reading too much into that "could not be reached for comment," but given that Stowe and Rob are both concerned he may be too old to play the part, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Moving on to Breaking Dawn, if you are planning on going to Comic-Con, you may want to mark March 29th on your calendar. That is the day the reservation process for convention hotels begins, and it's a tricky one. So get informed.

Peter Facinelli was on the Today Show this week, and he made a cute Edward mention. Watch at about 1:35.

Finally a bit of Unbound Captives news: Director Madeleine Stowe briefly mentioned a 2013 production start for the film. 

Let's hope Rob can pull off playing his young character in 2013.  He might just look too old by then.. just ask Zimbio.

It sounds like as Rob suspected, he might be a little too old to play his character on Unbound Captives. Madeleine Stowe giving MTV a production update on the Golden Globes red carpet tonight, that sounds pretty discouraging. Bummer.

Madeleine Stowe Gives Update On 'Unbound Captives'

For those of us still hoping to see Rob in Unbound Captives, the latest from its director Madeleine Stowe does not sound encouraging:

Madeleine Stowe is so good at being bad on ABC's "Revenge" she could delay a dream project one more year.

Set to direct her first film -- a romantic western called "The Unbound Captives" -- Stowe has a brief window of opportunity in the spring to get it done. "We're dealing with weather issues and everything has to fall right," she says.

If that doesn't happen -- because she has to keep on shooting the drama -- she'll have to regroup.

After not hearing anything on the future of Unbound Captives for a while, just this past month we've gotten an update from the director, and a potential production start date. Now Larry 411 has a bit more on its status, and found that the location for filming is still listed as New Mexico:

'Unbound Captives' To Film In The Spring?

It was great to get an update on Unbound Captives from director Madeleine Stowe last week. Now Hollywood Life says its talked to someone close to production, and they had filming details to share!


“There’s not a definite start date as elements of the movie are still being worked on,” explains our insider. “But as things are going now we intend to start shooting in the late spring.”

Madeleine Stowe: 'Unbound Captives' To Film Next Year!

Just when we thought we probably wouldn't see Rob speaking Comanche after news on Unbound Captives dried up, director Madeleine Stowe gives us an update on the project:


She'll start directing The Unbound Captives next year, she said, and already has rounded up the main cast: Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz and Robert Pattinson.

Nicola Peltz Has Met Rob: Filming For Unbound Captives "Next Year"

Nicola Peltz gives us an update on the status of Unbound Captives, in which she'll co-star with Rob. Jackson also talks Breaking Dawn. They spoke to Digital Spy as part of their promotional tour for The Last Airbender.

You know we try and stay away from reporting or even linking you to gossip. But today as Gossip Cop went after yet another site for their claims, it actually got a quick answer on the future of Unbound Captives: 

Wait, when exactly does Unbound Captives start production? Does HollywoodLife have inside info?

Nope.

“There is no start date,” a source close to Pattinson tells Gossip Cop"

"Source close to Pattinson" sounds good enough for us. But it also means bad news for those hoping to see Rob take on the role of Cherokee speaking Phineas any time soon. Updates as we get them!

'Unbound Captives' - New Details Emerge

UPDATE: (6/8) with much better deets and timeline ("start soon") from Nicola Peltz.

It's been a while since we've heard anything about Unbound Captives. Rob talked about his role in the movie set to be directed by Madeleine Stowe, during the New Moon press junket last year:

"I'm playing a kid who is kidnapped by Comanches when he was four years old, and he is brought up by them. His mother spends her entire life trying to find me and my sister. When she finds us, we can't remember who she is and can't remember anything about the Western culture she grew up in. I speak Comanche the whole movie.

Now we hear from two of his co-stars, who gave a little bit of an update on the status of the film. Last night E! Online's @taryder told us she had talked to Nicola Peltz who is also co-starring with Jackson Rathbone in The Last Airbender:

"unbound captive sounds awesome! Got some deets about their characters and movie. Its gonna be a sad one I think"

Taryn later posted an article with what Peltz said: 

"I haven't talked to Rob, but I met Hugh [Jackman], who is also going to be in it. He's so talented and so much fun! We're both really looking forward to working with Rob, too. I can't wait to work with both of them!"


Talk about a hot cast. But what's it about, exactly?


"It's based on the Comanche tribes a while back," said Nicola, pausing for a bit. "It's hard to explain, but it's such a great script.


"Rob plays my brother, and when we're four, we get kidnapped. Our mom looks for us forever until we're about fifteen. We don't even know her when she comes by. And one—well, I can't give you the whole thing—but one of us stays in our tribe and one of us goes back with her."

Then we got an update from Collider, who also talked to Peltz about her role in Unbound Captives:

What do you have coming up after this?
PELTZ: Unbound Captives, I just got cast in it, it hasn’t started filming yet, but it's with Rob Pattinson, Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman and Madeline Stowe wrote it and is gonna direct it.

And when do you think you’re gonna start filming?
PELTZ: Not sure, hopefully soon, I cannot wait to do it.

Finally, we understand we might get a bit of a preview from Rachel Weisz, via her interview with Empire Magazine. She is said to mention Unbound Captives as "definitely going ahead."
