UPDATE 12/16: A little more video from that night has surfaced (3:15 and 4:00).

Earlier this month Rob popped in to present an award to Chris Weitz in LA, and now there's a few seconds worth of video. (at about 1:04) - But really the story of the contestants the story follows is a good one, so watch if you get a chance.

Chris Weitz: “I Want To See Them Succeed”

Chris Weitz shared his hopes for Rob during a recent interview.. making us love him (and his mustard pants) more. If that's even possible.

As for the future of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner after “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” Parts 1 (to be released in November this year) and 2 (next year), here’s Chris’ wish for them: “For the three leads, they’re going to need to handle this last tsunami of publicity and distinguish themselves in other films.”

“I want to see them succeed,” Chris stressed. “I want to see them retain their essential humanity. I like them very much. What I also wish for them are happy lives that aren’t impinged on too much by the downside of the great things that have happened to them.”

“With Kristen, she has always done terrific independent-film roles, and that’s great,” said Chris, who also directed the memorable “About a Boy,” “The Golden Compass” and, now, the acclaimed “A Better Life.” “Rob is doing that sort of thing, too,” Chris pointed out. “Rob is filming with David Cronenberg (‘Cosmopolis’) now. Taylor is carving a different path in action films.”

'A Better Life' Actress & The Touch That Put Her One Step Closer To Rob

A Better Life actress Chelsea Rendon, talked to Movieline about the first thing she did when she met director Chris Weitz:

Still, Twilight fan Rendon was especially excited to land the role for a very specific other reason. “I first heard about [A Better Life] through the Twilight circle, because Chris had mentioned it in a New Moon interview,” she recalled. “I read it and my mom said, ‘Oh, you have an audition for this,’ and I was like, what!? I got all excited. And when I got to the auditions and first met him I was like, ‘Oh my God, I love you so much!’ Then I touched his hand and was like, ‘Oh my God, I technically touched Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner in some way or form!’”

Very cute. A Better Life opens Friday in New York and Los Angeles. We've heard great things about the film, so don't miss if it comes to your town!

Chris Weitz: Round Two.. More Talk of 'New Moon' & Rob!

So we thought after Thursday's twitter session of rapid question and answers, Chris Weitz was done talking to fans for a while. But we were wrong. Friday he took to twitter again, and sure enough.. Rob was among the topics of conversation.

Wha??.. this is what came to mind..

Which as it turns out, does officially make it a somersault:

: a movement (as in gymnastics) in which a person turns forward or backward in a complete revolution along the ground or in the air bringing the feet over the head; also : a falling or tumbling head over heels

We can't quite picture Rob doing it, but we ARE happy with the end result of his New Moon training ;)

Chris had a lot more to share with fans, so we put his latest tweets on the slideshow below. Enjoy!

Chris Weitz About Rob: "We Haven't Seen A Tenth Of What He Can Do Onscreen"

Can you love 'New Moon' director Chris Weitz any more? yes, yes you can. He was the one chosen to write about Rob and his official inclusion in the 2010 TIME 100 list. And Weitz didn't disappoint. Congratulations Rob! Call Chris!

Robert Pattinson

By Chris Weitz

I have to be careful about what I write here because it will be tweeted the moment TIME hits the stands. And if I say something bad about Rob Pattinson, I'm dead meat. That's the devotion the Twilight films inspire. It's certainly not how he planned it. And though I am continually impressed by the aplomb with which he handles the hysteria, I occasionally think he would take it all back if given the chance. Because essentially, Rob, 23, is a reserved, bookish sort of specimen, a guy who'd rather spend the night at the corner table in the pub with friends — a bit of a weirdo, frankly, in the best sense.

So how to write about someone who seems to answer Freud's rhetorical question, What do women want? Perhaps it's just worth pointing out that it'd be fun to have a beer with him even if he weren't Edward Cullen. That we haven't seen a tenth of what he can do onscreen. And that important things, beyond the veil of Hollywood, occupy his time too — music, conversation, ideas, a sense of the absurd. Which, maybe, explains why he never gets to my e-mails. I love you, Rob! Call me!
