Walmart has announced they will be celebrating the Breaking Dawn Part 1 DVD release with some goodies for fans:

Starting at 11 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, Walmart will throw the ultimate Twilight party with special giveaways*, movie trivia and a bakery stocked with Twilight-themed treats such as cupcakes and cakes. Walmart shoppers can also catch a cameo appearance from Rosalie Cullen on the retailer's in-store television network while waiting for the midnight unveil.

"I hadn't even arrived at the motel and already there was fan mail. They figured out where I was going to be -- and I didn't even know. But every one of those letters was so genuine and so sweet."

'Bel Ami' Production Notes: Directors Share Details

Studio Canal has released the production notes from Bel Ami to the press, ahead of the film's release in the UK (March). There are plenty of Rob mentions which we include below.

"We asked actors that we really wanted to work with, people that we have admired for a long time, explains Donnellan of their casting choices. "Kristin Scott Thomas we know of old. Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Robert Pattinson we have always admired. There’s also Colm Meaney, a wonderful Irish actor who plays Rousset and Phillip Glenister. They are all actors we love."

Ormerod and Donnellan were thrilled to be working with such a diverse cast. Donnellan describes the moment that the actors turned up for rehearsals. "It was absolutely fantastic to see them arriving one after another. They are all incredibly professional and great fun with wicked senses of humour in their own different ways; Uma, Kristin and Christina are all very different people. We had a ball, an absolutely wonderful time because the material was so fantastic, the roles and screenplay are fantastic. Everybody felt like they were being stretched, especially us because it was our first movie. Kristin, Christina, Uma and Robert would all agree that they were doing things they hadn’t done before, which was what made it so thrilling."

Dicks-Mireaux explains how the costumes she designed for Georges help to tell the story of his progression throughout the film. "He wears black virtually all the way. Maupassant writes very clearly about starching, and we spend a lot of time and effort on the shirts. This period is a very transitional period between the boiled shirt and the pleated shirt so we’ve done a combination of the two. We’ve engineered this ingenious way of making sure we can always have the stiff cuffs. I’ve gone for very high collars on Robert because he suits them really well and it makes them all stand up correctly. If you look at the British royal family they seem to wear a slightly broader look. You look at the French drawings and they seem to have a much tighter, narrower look - a bit like Christian Dior suits: that very pinched, nice, narrow, elegant, long lined leg. He had a journey and then right at the end of the journey he sort of dips and goes a little bit more bourgeois and slightly pompous. He thought he might have a moustache at the end."

The central character of Georges was a complex and captivating subject for Rachel Bennette, as she explains. "Georges is a difficult character, that’s what makes him so fascinating. He’s quite enigmatic in certain respects and he’s not a typical character in many ways. He’s very reactive as opposed to the active protagonist that you’re used to. So it was a question of trying to get the measure of him."

"He never works and he still gets it all. That’s what’s so maddening about Georges Duroy," Donnellan concurs. "He gets the lot with no effort and it’s something we have to live with. Georges has a talent to get to the top and he’s a businessman with one commodity to sell. Another thrilling thing about Georges is his emptiness; people can project anything into him which is another reason why he’s so successful."

Bennette concludes: "I find Georges really compelling, even if I don’t always like him. There’s something about his audacity, and his daring, and his absolute refusal to be told his place. And there is something quite appealing about that: essentially it is a kind of mad courage that he has."

'Bel Ami' Headed To Glasgow Film Festival

According to stv and other reports, Bel Ami will screen at the Glasgow Film Festival next month.

Among the many films receiving their first British screening at Glasgow are the eagerly awaited Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy, romantic comedy The Decoy Bride co-starring David Tennant and Kelly Macdonald, acclaimed American independent drama In the Family, period drama Bel Ami starring Robert Pattinson, award-winner Cloudburst with Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker, controversial documentaries Better this World and How to Die in Oregon and animated feature Wrinkles (Arrugas).

The festival runs from February 16-26, and tickets for all of its screenings ~~go on sale tomorrow~~ are available NOW. We'll have more details as they become available, but for now here's a rundown on what you can expect. (Bel Ami screenings scheduled for 22-23 February).

In the past few months, Carter Burwell has given few interviews about the process of creating the score for Breaking Dawn. He spoke to Sonic Scoop in a must-read interview a while back, and now he gives a few more details to the Sag Harbor Express:

At what point in the filming process will you come onboard? Is the film usually finished by the time you see it and set the score?

Generally, I don’t actually write anything until a film has actually been shot. But, there are some exceptions.

In the movie I’m working on right now, which is “Breaking Dawn: Part II,” they needed Rob Pattinson and the actress who plays his daughter to play piano onscreen. I had to write this duet before they shot the film so they could actually learn the parts. Rob is a musician, so he prides himself on working out the fingering for these correctly.

We can't wait to hear the finished product!

Several Rob mentions in the last few days, starting with his costar in Bel Ami - Holliday Grainger. Was she scared of the kissing scenes with Rob?

Holliday said: "I've worked with him pre-Twilight so I wasn't massively scared having to go in there and snog him.”

When asked if Rob had changed since becoming a global heartthrob, she laughed: "No, not at all. He's a lovely guy. Always has been."

iCarli's Miranda Cosgrove has made no secret of her crush on Rob, she even wants him as her boyfriend in the Nickelodeon series :)

And boy does Rob leave an impression, just ask Morgan Turner (Mildred Pierce).

She only had a brush with him in Remember Me, but that was enough to leave an impression:

More 'Bel Ami' Buzz & Amsterdam Gets Screenings

While most of us painfully wait for Bel Ami to be released while we pine over new stills, some fans are getting lucky. Amsterdam is the second city in the last few weeks to schedule public screenings of the film.

If there are still tickets available, you can get them at their site. Have fun ladies!

Some great news for this indie, is that movie critics are taking notice - and in a good way. The London Evening Standard giving Bel Ami its seal of approval:

Still, there are signs of intellectual life in the cinema in 2012: the best-written upcoming movie I've seen is the riveting romp of Bel Ami, with Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas in Maupassant's masterpiece.

Again, it succeeds because the original work is both sexy and clever: a plot turning on multifarious adultery, secret plans to invade Morocco and the power of the 1880s press. And, yes, of course we like to watch Uma in a velvet frock-coat, bewitching the arriviste Robert Pattinson as Georges: but we do have to keep half an eye on the machinations of the proprietors and French intentions in Africa to fully enjoy it.

Like a lot of critics, I've done my share of moaning about dumbing down. So credit where it is due: this looks rather like the year of dumbing up. Sex on screen is cheering. Sex and sensibility's even better.

We hope the good reviews continue!

In 2010 I was the Hungarian X-Factor promo’s face and they saw me and called the Bel Ami’s casting. I tried and I got the role. Then they asked me if I wanted to be Robert’s double, and I said: Of course :)

How was this experience? Did you enjoy it?

It was amazing! To be on set with such great actors! Robert and me act in a scene together! He is a very good actor, and very kind!

Can you tell us a funny story about Rob?

Actually I don’t remember! - Once I did ask him if he knows Natalie Portman, and whether they are good friends. But he just laughed about this…

I love Little Ashes! My favorite painter is Dali, and Robert was a Great Dali!

Ion Cinema took a guess at what Cronenberg has already teased, that Cosmopolis will likely have a presence at Cannes and Toronto:

Finally, something Rob had already admitted to, that he can't cook - is confirmed by one of his Breaking Dawn costars. In a new interview Mia Maestro shares the details:

Although Mia Maestro says filming Twilight, where she portrays vampire Carmen from Denali Clan, is "filmed like any other film, an ordinary film" - the hysterical fanatic for the saga of vegan bloodsuckers in us asks for more. "The shooting was divided between Hungary and Canada and lasted six months, which gave us plenty of time to get to know the other actors." Among these, three names that are royalty in Hollywood today: RobertPattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner. The first two are rumored to be a couple. Maestro's response: "That, you're going to have to ask them". I can tell you, they are super open, super friendly. "We had really small apartments where we could cook, much more homey than you think, and we would all eat together, and cook for each other." Pattinson? "He does not cook. The one that cooks is Kristen."And Taylor Lautner? "I didn't spend much time with him since we did not share many scenes. The Twilight star is expected to make an appearance at the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday.

Pattinson is up for Favorite Movie Actor against Daniel Radcliffe, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Depp and Ryan Reynolds. He also has his next flick, Bel Ami, to promote before its release in early March.

Last year Eclipse won big at the awards ceremony, that this year will be held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles (same place as the Breaking Dawn premiere) - We'll be posting pics and videos as they come in.

Rob talked to Bravo magazine while promoting Breaking Dawn in Berlin, and he was in a joking mood when answering questions for this interview.

Awesome - "Breaking Dawn Part 1" is one of the most popular movies of 2011. It has climbed to the top of the movie charts worldwide and made 500 Mio Euro so far. Everyone loves vampire Edward and werewolf Jacob. But are the two principal performers Robert Pattinson (25) and Taylor Lautner (19) heroes in real life, too? And what happened if they wouldn't only dominate the movie hit lists but also the whole world? That's what BRAVO wanted to know - and as always they don't agree on each other's opinion...

BRAVO: Imagine you were the king of the world - what dreams of yours would you make come true?
ROB: First of all, I would standardize the system of education. It's way too complicated all over the world. Also, kids and teens are teached too little for their futute and what they really need in later life.
ROB: Oh! I have another idea: teleporting! I would use the whole national property to do research in teleporting. You could beam yourself anywhere, no more pollution by cars and aircraft!

BRAVO: And what would you prohibit right away?
ROB: I would prohibit boring people (laughs). In my opinion there's nothing worse. People who are boring would be put in prison and there they would be forced to learn to be creative together with the other prisoners.

BRAVO: And where would your capital city be?
ROB: I would found my own city called 'Shit City'. Some daunting name so that nobody would like to live there at all. It would be located on the Fiji Islands - a paradise for me only!

BRAVO: Which song would be your national anthem?
ROB: 'Wannabe' by Spice Girls.
BRAVO: Eh? Why this song?
ROB: I think it's funny that all the stupid politicians would have to salutate to this song. A matching song for all the wannabe-politicians!
BRAVO: Who would be your Queen?
ROB: Mmh... Any woman who loves to run a country. But I would never force anyone to do it! (laughs)
BRAVO: What would you wish your commoners?
ROB: I think everyone should have the opportunity to accomplish what they want with all their heart.

Forbes just listed Rob and Kristen among the Top-Earning Screen Couples in Hollywood:

Ranking second behind Grint and Watson is reported real-life couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the stars of the Twilight franchise. All of the Twilight films to date have hit theaters in the last five years, earning $2.5 billion at the global box office. While theHarry Potter series is mostly about Potter’s journey, the Twilight franchise is centered on Stewart and Pattinson’s characters, the human Bella and the vampire Edward. In the most recent movie they got married, with disastrous results. They’ll have a chance to boost their earnings even more when the second part of the last book, Breaking Dawn, is released this coming November.

And what does Rob do with all that cash? - he reportedly spends at least part of it in art, with the help of Drew Barrymore's fiancé Will Kopelman:

According to People Kopelman is a top art advisor with "high-profile clients from Robert Pattinson to Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard to Silicon Valley billionaires".

US Weekly adds more:

'Cosmopolis' Buzz: The Latest

It's no surprise to see Cosmopolis on several lists of films to watch in 2012. The Playlist breaks down why expectations are high:

Synopsis: Based on the novel by American authorDon DeLillo, it centers on Eric Packer (Robert Pattinson), a young multi-billionaire making an epic, ultimately doomed limo ride across New York City.

What You Need to Know: David Cronenberg is enjoying an unparalleled level of critical and commercial acceptance after decades hovering on the fringe. At the outset, “Cosmopolis” seems to fall in line with the mannered, critic-friendly films of the recent Cronenberg era. It is, after all, an adaptation of a critically revered and best-selling novel and stars hunky heartthrob-of-the-moment Robert Pattinson. But on closer inspection, the movie seems more atypical and dangerous (a good thing, since “A Dangerous Method” felt far too safe for a filmmaker known for exploding heads and genital mutilation), taking place primarily in a stretch limousine as it crawls through New York City (not exactly a cinematic conceit). A number of Cronenberg’s favorite thematic tics are explored, too, including man’s relationship with modern technology, the messiness of murder and sexual obsession. So while it might be sold as another buttoned-up late era Cronenberg think piece, we’re hoping it’s going to be ruder, looser, and more like the days of yore, even if it has to be without the exploding heads and genital mutilation.

Release Date: With press for “A Dangerous Method” occupying much of Cronenberg’s time in the fall of 2011, our guess is the fall film festival circuit will be the earliest we see the picture.

Cinema Blend seems to agree on the release date, adding a big reason why Toronto is the likely location:

This year was already shaping up nicely for fans of filmmaker David Cronenberg. His latest release A Dangerous Method is currently in theaters, and while his next film Cosmopolis is still in post-production without an official release date, a Toronto International Film Festival is now looking likely thanks to some interesting news from up north.

With the help of the Canadian government, the festival (TIFF) is planning a large interactive retrospective of Cronenberg's work; the grant proposal for government funding was called "The Worlds of David Cronenberg: An Augmented Reality Game." A what? Well, at it's most basic, an ARG is essentially any game where the real world is augmented by a computer generated sensory experience.

'Twilight' Costar Remembers Rob.. And His Parents

In a recent interview Ayanna Berkshire who played Cora in Twilight reminisced about working with Rob:

PP: Your scene in the movie did not involve Robert Pattinson, but did you see him on set at all during the filming of the movie? Were you familiar with him before this movie?

AB: I was aware of Robert from Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire and from a small role in Vanity Fair. I met him on set at lunch one day, because he was shooting another scene right after us and we all ended up having lunch together. He was funny, charming and incredibly friendly, really very normal, which comes as no surprise.

Inside story: Two days after that lunch I was back to work at my part time job, I worked in an eyeglass shop in Portland named Visage Eyewear. While I was there, an absolutely adorable British couple came in. We INSTANTLY bonded and I ended up talking with them for close to two hours. About an hour in, I finally asked what brought them to Portland and they told me that they were visiting their son, who was working in town. I asked them what he did for work and they told me he was an actor! “REALLY”, I said. (I get really excited for fellow actors, especially since I know every last one in town), “I’m an actor too!! What’s his name? Is he working on anything at the moment?” That’s when they both got a little quiet, “Oh, he’s working on a movie here…” I took a look at both of them again, took in their accents and it suddenly dawned on me. “Is your son Rob?” I asked. They both got this wide-eyed look on their face like they weren’t sure if they should say yes or no. “I JUST worked with him two days ago!” I said, “I loved him, what a great guy!” They both seemed completely relieved that they could tell their secret without having to say anything. After that, we had an even better time and if I remember correctly, they even brought me ice cream from the ice cream shop across the street. For the record, Robert Pattinson has awesome parents!

During the Wrap party for Twilight, a friend of mine (he played one of the frat boys), Rob and I were all standing around talking. I wanted to do an impromptu photo shoot, where either I was about to bite Rob, or vice versa… it ended in a total fail as neither one of us knew who was supposed to bite who. I hope I’ll be forgiven for sharing this less than flattering pic.*

PP: Did you have any idea, being in the first of a five movie series, that Twilight would become so big and that Robert Pattinson would go on to become as famous as he did?

AB: I think that the success of the movies came as a surprise to everyone. I’d had an idea that they were going to be huge just because EVERYONE seemed to be reading the books!

I think that anyone who played the role of Edward was going to experience mega fandom. Edward, of all the characters was the most untouchable, the most mysterious and the sexiest. To watch that type of character brought to real life by an actor (especially an actor like Robert who is fun, approachable and handsome, but who was still sort of a mystery himself), it becomes this instant gratification. The character was written with such passion that as a reader, you want that passion for yourself. It also didn’t hurt that Robert was coming from Harry Potter and had a built in audience who were already excited to see him in something new.

New 'Bel Ami' Trailer Released: Plenty Of Hot Georges!

The trailer we've all been waiting for is here, courtesy of UK distributors. Studio Canal launched a new Bel Ami facebook page and twitter yesterday, ahead of the film's release in the UK on March 2nd. No word on when Sony will release Bel Ami in the U.S. - but Middle East distributor Front Row said on its facebook today that the film will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival which runs from February 9-19. The film has been rated R (U.S.) for "some strong sexuality, nudity and brief language". Just to confirm this rating info we called the MPAA. They said that is officially the rating given to the version of Bel Ami presented to them for review. But they did add that could always change, if the film was re-edited before release. Stay tuned for more details as they come in!

It looks like the Bel Ami promo is finally kicking into high gear. Brazil distributors were the first to set up their facebook page, and now Studio Canal is doing the same for the UK, promising a new trailer release tomorrow:

We’ve just received a heads up that the Bel Ami trailer will launch on the official page at 3pm tomorrow (UK) [22nd December 2011]. Like the page now and be the first to see it when it breaks and keep up to date with all the latest news, events and giveaways. You can also win tickets to exclusive preview screenings and events by following the official Twitter page @BelAmi_Movie.

The film opens in the UK on March 2nd. No word yet on the U.S. release date, but we're sure it's coming!

UPDATE 12/20: Scratch everything you've seen or heard. While the image below may be a good first try at selling/promoting Cosmopolis, a producer tells E! it is not the official poster and that date is not sticking:

"I can confirm that that is neither the official poster, nor the official release date," one of the producers of the film promised us. "We are still completing work on the film, and there are several inaccurate stories circulating on both"

Could the date be only for certain international markets? maybe, after all that's where the new promo image and clip came from. We'll share more details as we get them!

UPDATE 12/18: Added better quality version of poster with text in English.

Our first look at a Cosmopolis trailer was out of Portugal, and now Russia gives us a new poster and reconfirmation on the release date. Guess Cronenberg wasn't kidding when he said this was an international production. Here's hoping the U.S. gets some of that same promo love when the time comes.
