'The Rover' Teaser Trailer Is Out!

THE ROVER is set in a world ten years following the collapse of the western economic system, where Australia’s mineral resources have drawn the desperados and dangerous to its shores. With society in decline, the rule of law has disintegrated and life is cheap. The film follows hardened loner Eric (Pearce), who travels the desolate towns and roads of the Australian outback. When a gang of thieves steals his car they leave behind the wounded Rey (Pattinson) in their wake. Forcing Rey to help track the gang, Eric will go to any lengths to take back the one thing that matters to him.

'The Rover' Trailer On The Way, Rob About To Start Work On 'Queen of the Desert'

We told you 2014 would be a busy year for Rob and it's beginning to happen. Today Queen of the Desert actor Jay Abdo tweeted this update.

Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Damian Lewis and me Jay Abdo on Werner Herzog's set in 'Queen of the Desert'.. Such great creative artists

It came hours after the film's producer tweeted that he'd soon be working with Rob. Details from that set as we get them.

We also got some exciting news via the U.S. distributor of The Rover, A24 Films. After posting this tweet, they confirmed a teaser trailer is on the way!

Next week is the last week in January and we don't make promises we can't keep. Prepare accordingly fans :)

Finally, The Playlist got a chance to talk to The Childhood of a Leader director Brady Corbet and he mentioned Rob (at about 9:30)

Sundance is a place for discovery, where new talent can shine in front of an audience hungry for revelation. With their new film “The Sleepwalker,” co-screenwriters Mona Fastvold and Brady Corbet (she directs, he stars) have auspiciously debuted their creative partnership, which is already three screenplays deep. (He will direct their next feature, “The Childhood of a Leader,” starring Robert Pattinson, Tim Roth and Juliette Binoche, later this year, and a third project will follow.)

If you missed, Rob also talked to The Wall Street Journal about his experience working with Dior, as the U.S. campaign gets underway. Look for the latest on all of his projects as information comes in. Go Rob!

Film Updates: The Rover, Life, More

As 2014 gets going, we have a few updates on Rob's upcoming films. David Michôd was at Flickerfest and mentioned Rob and The Rover. The film is set to be released this summer.

@Roaford/via:

They didn't talk about The Rover much but what David did say was it's finished. He completed it a month and a half ago, but the teaser isn't ready yet.

He cast Rob cause he could see the hunger and determination he has towards the career he ultimately wants.

David said Rob is one of the smartest guys he's worked with said he's just a fun guy to be around.

In The Rover, Scoot and Rob's characters are from Texas so they'll both have Texan accents. David said Rob was worried about it but said he nailed it.

David said he set out to make a more commercial movie after Animal Kingdom but it ended up being darker.

David said Rob and Guy are phenomenal in The Rover and it's the best work they've ever done.

David told us a story of how he saw Rob walking up the street by himself in Corn. Rob told David that it was the most magical experience to be able to do that.

And heads up Toronto, according to OLV Rob is headed your way next month to film Life. Read more.

Finally, if you missed this tweet from producer Cassian Elwes on January 9th, filming on Queen of the Desert is now underway. No other updates since then. Keep you posted!

I can't believe queen of the desert starts shooting Monday-what a journey this has been to get it to the screen.

'Maps To The Stars' On 'Most Anticipated' List of 2014

HitFix has put Maps to the Stars on its 'Most Anticipated' list of the year. They've treated us to the first official still of Rob as Jerome apparently the picture is from filming over the summer. Still pretty great that the film made the list:

Director: David Cronenberg

Cast: Robert Pattinson, Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, John Cusack, Carrie Fisher, Olivia Williams

Expected debut: Cannes

Why: David Cronenberg is one of my favorite working filmmakers, so a new film of his is not never not going to be on a list like this for me. But I don't mind admitting that he's tested my patience of late: "A Dangerous Method" was elegant but insufficiently dangerous, while "Cosmopolis,' though well suited to his kinky side, was too bound to its source novel to soar. Will a Hollywood satire bring back his bite? The premise sounds promisingly silly. Cusack's a psychotherapist and parent of a drug-addicted child star. Wasikowska is his pyromaniac daughter, who befriends Pattinson's limo driver and wannabe actor. Moore is a star remaking one of her mother's films as she's literally haunted by the old woman, and so on and so forth. This could all go way out of control, but that's kind of what we want, right?
